Welcome,

For over two decades I have had the privilege of being a witness to history in the making. I have dedicated my professional life to informing the U.S. Hispanic population about everything from world events and political campaigns, to natural disasters and changes in laws that affect their daily lives. And I have done so through Spanish language television and radio and more recently through my syndicated bi-lingual column.

There are issues I feel passionate about, such as immigration, education, health care and the political empowerment of Latinos. The needs of our community are many and that is why my work as a journalist has given way to multiple public service projects throughout the years in which I have worked with the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services, the World Health Organization as well as several non-profit organizations in providing information that will improve the lives and well-being of Latinos.

Multi-media journalism allows us to share a wealth of information. So through this web site I'd like to share some of my work and allow an open and healthy exchange of ideas and opinions.

Sincerely,

MARIA ELENA SALINAS
